My “momcation” at The aha Gateway Hotel

Reminiscing the time, I escaped my busy live and had a “momcation”.  Yes, that is exactly what I did. Taking time out to care for yourself can remind you that your needs are important, too. It means that you are simply being mindful of your own needs and you are better able to support the people you care about. When you take care of yourself and are not stressed, you are better able to meet the needs of others.

Having a well-cared-for body can make you feel good about yourself and your life itself. This can contribute to long-term feelings of well-being.

Self-care is not selfish.

While some may misconstrue self-care as selfish, it is far from that. It is truly one of the best things you can do for your kids. 2020 has really been tough on us.  With some of us working from home, looking after the household, and homeschooling.

With a recent opportunity to host our second #FitLikeMeZA in KZN. We decided to take this opportunity with both hands and road tripped down to KZN. A well-deserved “momcation” where I got some time for myself.

aha Gateway Hotel.

Self-care comes in a variety of forms and having the opportunity to be hosted at the beautiful aha Gateway Hotel in Umhlanga was the best form of self-care for this mom. A place that I could feel safe, with the friendliest staff, delicious food, and room service.

We were greeted with the biggest smiles when we arrived on the Friday. Our check in went seamless and followed by their COVID-19 protocols that included sanitising and taking our temperatures.

Now, taking a break from our family can cause some mom guilt, but after seeing my spacious room with the most comfortable bed, large tub, and my very own coffee desk made all those feelings of guilt just disappeared.

Being ready for your children at all times can cause burnout, making things that could be everyday treasures feel like everyday chores and this weekend gave me the opportunity to refill my cup.

With the most incredible service, the aha Gateway Hotel is definitely the place to stay and having the Gateway Theatre of Shopping linked to the hotel makes the hotel a real one stop breakaway with everything you need.  The Hotel has a cocktail lounge where you can enjoy the most delicious cocktails as well as a pool deck on the room that I really wished I made use of, but unfortunately the weather wasn’t in our favour and soaking in my tub definitely took more preference.

No Mom Guilt Needed

I honestly had the best sleep I have had in months, I enjoyed drinking my coffee while still hot and didn’t need to share my breakfast. Yes, it was only for two incredible days, but it was exactly what I needed.

Self-care is all about maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself so that you can transmit the good feelings to others. Remember, you cannot give to others what you do not have yourself…

Thank you aha Gateway Hotel and staff for making my “momcation” absolutely unforgettable.
