I naturally have a very dry skin, but with winter in full swing, my skin gets extra dry. Which mean eczema flare-ups, tight and itchy skin. This just adds to the fact that I honestly do not enjoy winter. The air is dry, the wind is cold, getting out the shower is the worst and then we all know the mission of keeping our skin moisturised.
The main cause of dry skin is a lack of moisture in the epidermis, which in turn makes the skin to feel rough and itchy, and in more severe cases causes the skin to flake, crack and bleed.
Sun exposure, cold wind, dry air and season changes are just a few of the factors that adds to causes of dry skin. Hot water and soap strip away the skin’s oily layer, causing moisture to escape and then there is the biggest factor, age. Unfortunately, with age our skin’s natural oily layer thins, making it less able to hold moisture and with that the likeliness of dry skin worsening. Therefore, the question stands, is there any hope for us?
I recently spotted the new Bio Oil Dry Skin Gel and read so many positive reviews. We all know Bio Oil for reducing the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone, but what about dry skin? The Bio-oil dry skin gel is an oil-based formula specifically created to replenish the skin’s barrier and deeply moisturise your skin. With the dry skin gel containing 97% nourishing oils to treat dry skin, I just had to try it for myself.
The first time I applied it, my skin drank it up with absolute thirst, but later that day my dry skin was back. My first initial thought was, yes, another product that works for everyone else except me…
I however decided to stick it out for at least a week or two before making my final decision. By the end of week one I started seeing a massive change in my skin texture, my dry patches from my eczema started clearing up, my skin started feeling softer and smoother. By the end of week, two and three all signs of my dry skin started disappearing. The Bio Oil Dry Skin Gel actually restored and effectively treated my dry skin.
Well done Bio Oil, this product really lived up to all the hype. Its lightweight formula absorbed quickly, leaving my skin with a beautiful natural glow. I can now go a full day without my skin feeling dried out and needing to reapply any moisturisers. I now have the dry skin gel as a permanent fixture in my skincare routine, saying goodbye to dry and flaky skin for good.
This beauty is available from all pharmacy retailers nationwide, ranging from 50ml (R59.99), 100ml (R109.99) and 200ml (R184.99). A little bit pricey, but I do however feel it is well worth the buy as a little really goes a long way and makes the tub last longer than your normal moisturiser. Do not forget to keep an eye out for those amazing specials when visiting your favourite pharmacy retailer…
